He wears a ribbon tied in the front, holding his hair back behind his ears. He wears a knee lenght cloak that is black with a zigzag white trim, over a colorful shirt and trousers with an intricate patter. Beside him, Horibe Yasubei looks down at his adopted father. Yasubei is dressed in garments similar to his father. Two crossed swords are attached behind him at his waist. In his left hand he holds the long handle of a massive wooden hammer. In his right hand he holds a cylindrical black object with a handle at one end. Around the border of the picture are various vertical rows of Chinese characters.
