François Gérard, 1770-1837. Cupid and Psyche, 1798, Oil on canvas, 186 x 132 cm. Musée du Louvre, Paris. Source: Wikipedia. Psyche sits on a rock outcropping, a few flowers at her feet. She is wearing a sheer robe, which has been fallen down around her lap leaving her upper body exposed. An orange robe lies behind her. Her hands are folder across her abdomen below her breasts. Her light brown hair is tied back, and she stares forward. To her right, a naked Cupid stands. One hand encircles her head, not touching her. The other is near her right shoulder, also not quite touching. Cupid's chin is by Psyche's forehead, his wings outstretched behind him. His left leg is bent at the knee, next to Psyche'sleft knee. In the backround are dark hills and a blue sky with grey cirrus clouds. A butterfly hovers over their heads.
