Pair of Marble Lions,

As archetypes, lions are often associated with kings.  For instance, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, King Aslan is a lion. 

Two marble male lions with heavy mane, crouch before a platform.  Each faces outward, resting, his paws stretched in front of him.  Although resting, the lions appear to be guarding the temple.
