Omphalos at Delphi. Photo by De'Lara Stephens, Mar. 2006. The omphalos represented the navel of the world, its exact center. In the foreground, a female tourist stands behind the omphalos, a rounded conical stone, like a large bullet, sitting on a square block of granite on a gravel road. The hillside behind the woman is filled with blocks of granite, stone walls, and the ruins of stones buildings. Along the top of the hill are a few cedar trees.
